Dongle Error

#1

Lo all,

After installing the lastest HASP updates and trying to run the Dongle updater afterward. I’m getting the error “HASP not found (-10)”.

I’ve tried both installs from the HASP download page below and each of them produced the same error. FWIW, my current version of Messiah still works which is 2.5c.

(Tried both installation packages below)

  1. HASP Device Driver GUI Installation (HDD32)
    Supports Vista

Win32 Win64 HASP4_driver_setup.zip5 MB 4.102.5.22 01/2007

  1. HASP Device Driver Command Line Installation (Hinstall)
    NEW! Supports Windows Server 2008

Win32 Win64 HASP4 driver cmdline.zip9.7 MB 4.110.5.41 06/2008

I’m running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello,
From what you wrote i assume, you want to upgrade dongle… sadly you have to use a Windows XP installation to do that.
After this the program will be use your dongle no problem.

hope that helps,

Did you get your dongle re-coded for Messiah 3? Has it everr worked with Messiah 3?

Just received the email from customer support about upgrading the dongle on WinXP. I’ll update the thread for completeness sake once I get the dongle upgraded and try it out on Vista.

Thanks for the replies.

Go figure…it did not work :hmm:

Updated the hardware key on WIN/XP but I never got a message from the updater application confirming it was finished or an indication that it was working to update the key. I get the above message when I try to launch Messiah 3 on Vista.

Obviously, my key is either:

A.) Not updated
B.) Key is updated but does not work on Vista regardless.

Sucks. I just don’t have the cycles right now to fight with this $#!^.

This was a pain but I also had to do this to get MS3 working on my machine.
The steps that worked for me (I just followed pmg support e-mail):

  1. Install latest HASP driver onto xp machine
  2. make sure dongle is in
  3. run the MS3 client updater
  4. Copy paste the number it generates at top and e-mail that to pmg customer support.
  5. Get the dongle info back from pmg support
  6. Run the client again and paste dongle info into text area. Make sure you copy pasted the correct info. Press update hardware/key
  7. It should be a couple seconds but you should get a key has been updated box.

It took a couple of days since I don’t have an xp machine anymore but MS3 runs well on my Vista machine.

hope this helps,
RK

I had that happen to me on one of my dongles. I feel your pain. I don’t even honestly remember how it got resolved. Just patiently working with pmG. :frowning:

Just wanted to update this thread and say that I finally got it running on Vista!
It appears that the actual error I received was ID-10-T…just realized that tonight.

Here’s what I did:

1. I ran the dongle updater on WinXP
2. Pasted the updated key info into the dongle updater.
3. Tried the key on Vista (nothing happend).
4. Created a thread on CGTALK and whinned.

Here’s what I did not do:

  1. Install the HASP 4 drivers on WinXP. (I think I accepted the default from XP when the dongle was detected)
  2. Did not copy the key info correctly (Copied the information inside the brackets only)

Result = Error ID-10-T (IDIOT) :surprised

After getting a clue, installing the right drivers and actually following instructions. I’m confirming what most already know, the process of updating on XP works for Vista users.

I’m only updating this thread because I don’t want to be the cause of influencing someone to hesitate from upgrading or buying when it is clearly a user error.

EDIT:

@ Kayan - Damn…wish I would have saw your post last month :banghead:
