Thanks for the advice Abrvpt:D but my intention is to use the 3D model as a start point and then continue in photoshop and make a 2D entry because in 2D is no limitation of body parts you can show plus you can make a full color image
Dominance War IV - Minichallenge #2 - 3D
here is my render (low res):
I’ll submit a high res version of this one.
And I have done a “making of” video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhfzqxbKqOk
with the hole sculpting I’ve made on this one.
I hope you like it!
Everyone’s entries are looking good
so I guess I am jumping into this comp as well

Crit’s and Comments are definitely welcome!
gonna add eyes, maybe work on the plate soon. i wanna completely finish the basic modeling first before i get into little details like that first, heres the update.

Hey guys here’s what I have so far. I think it might be enough to start on the model. Time’s half done
His name is dinaMO!
Good luck all!!!

Hi!
Needing some time out according to my 2D thread in this minicon.
I have not much experience in 3D, but perhaps I am able to reach an acceptable state within the next few days.
The idea: A(nother) dragon (yeah, OFTEN seen, but my sketches of dragons looked better than those of gargoyles and time is running out), I call him Remus.
The pedestal will be somehow fulfilling two purposes, not only looking cool (I hope): on the one hand it has to interact somehow with my pet-statue, on the other it has to show the proportions of all of it. Therefor I decided to take a globe, Remus crawling on its surface. The surface of the globe will be a relief of landscapes, mountains and so on. Those mountains shall become the scales of Remus.
I have no idea, whether I will make it, but … sooner or later it would be a nice reference in sculpting, I think
Added the last sketch and my ZSphere-model:

Hello again
sanat49 thank you, i fixed it, good luck with your pet too, great idea.
I’m still working on it, just a wip (fur it still a wip… need a lot of time to do it)
One question guys, what about the final image, i mean one full front pose or i can do some different angles of my pet?
Good luck everyone
Tomorrow I will begin with the funny part of it, really hardcore sculpting
Here is already some nice progress to see, though I am not quiet sure, whether that cool looking bear looks pet-like enough (there’s something mentioned within the rules). Perhaps add some dices or similar stuff, which show the proportions?
I think, I’ll use the ossuary shader of Pixologic, working in greyscales at the end, render in ZBrush, for I don’t want to lose any quality by creating normal or displacement maps.

this is going to be my first real attempt at using Zbrush so i have no idea how it is going to turn out
Attached is what can be commonly known as doodles. As some one happened to spill coffee over the more details ones … lol
anyway managed about an hour and a bit on this so far. Basic mesh and all that. Crits and comments as usual. more crits then usual
here’s an update I think I am going to go back and rework the top beak but other than that I am almost done… I think?

ok guys… so i changed the concept and decided to go for something more … made up. I know its a bit last minute but i guess that is how i like it.
So my new concept is a little demon that belongs to a powerful Great Earl of Hell named Furfur. He is a leader of twenty-nine legions of demons and he summoned this little creature more for his amusement than anything else, witch doesn’t mean he is harmless, just far less lethal than his master.

Hi,
Hope I can finish it on time. This is a little demon whispering advice to his General.

Hey Everyone,
Here’s a WIP of my bust. I still have some more sculpting I want to do on the creature. I just put in the riding gear. I’ll be zbrushing that soon.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Here’s my update on the modeling so far. I think I have most of the form roughed in I need to tweak it with fresh eyes tomorrow. Let me know if I’m overlooking anything. Thanks!
Good luck guys!

alright so here’s where my dragons at now
still got a ways to go… but its coming along
some cool stuff getting made on here, very cool to see! :buttrock:
