Hola, soldiers!!!
I was debating whether I would fight in the DW2 for CGchat or CGsociety. I even considered taking bribes to influence my decision… but in the end I decided to go with CGchat because they’re heavily outnumbered. However, since I post often on CGtalk and always get great feedback, I thought it would be helpful if I post a w.i.p. over here to get some tips.
Here’s the first concept for my Shadow:
Her name is Gunwidow. I imagine her as a John Woo character x3. Here’s some back story:

The CGchat agent known as Gunwidow was born on a planet that remained neutral during the first Dominance War. This matered little to Polycount… Once the order established by CGchat fell, no planet was safe from the ravages of Polycount’s green toothy grin. Her people were raped and slaughtered, and the few that survived were enslaved. She grew up among the slave camps on her once beautiful planet, developing an uncanny talent for stealth as she learned to avoid the hateful abuses of the Polycount slavers.
This small child eventually stowed away on a cargo ship destined for other planets. She does not clearly remember when she found herself among a band of refugee CGchat soldiers and scientists. She does not even remember her true name. Gunwidow does remember, however, that it was SHE who volunteered herself for the genetic augmentation which endowed her with four extra arms and spider-like agility. And she remembers the reason why… VENGEANCE!!!
Gunwidow is an interception agent, specializing in the assassination of other Shadows. When an enemy Shadow has breached CGchat’s outer defenses, Gunwidow is sent to terminate it before it can complete it’s mission. Thus far her success rate is 100%.
The camera eyes on her visor, combined with her genetically enhanced reflexes, allows her to get the drop on her opponents. The armor-piercing shells fired by her pistols contain doses of lethal poison, to ensure that they finish the job.

My first impulse was to make her outfit black, to go along with the black widow spider theme she has going. However, there are so many characters in the comp dressed in black (especially the females) so I decided to go for white so she’ll stand out more from the competition. Besides that, I’ve always liked the contrast of dark skin with white outfits.
