Just a quick update on the creature body (beneath the armor)

Took a first pass at roughing out the larger forms of the body. I will probably shape this a bit more, especially in the low poly, after I see it under the armor.

Awe-inspiring concept! And your modeling skills are fleshing it out nicely. However, I wonder why you are spending so much time on the body beneath the armor, since in the concept it looks like the metalic parts cover the character almost completely. Are you planning to make the armor removable? (like in an actual game when it would get damaged by a CGchat hero character.) :wink: Keep up the good work, this one is a killer entry. Peace,

OK, finally getting back in the game. Got less than a week, so hopefully, I can burn the midnight oil to get this done.

Here is the latest. I am all over the place in terms of the low and high poly, texturing, UVs, rigging and such, but It all comes together in the end:)

This is looking quite cool! :thumbsup: I really like the armor design, too! The only crit I’ve got is on the little indentations on his shoulder guard. What are those? Bullet holes? Just wondering. I’m sure it will look even better when all the texturing is finished, but they just sort of stood out as nothing else seems to have that.

Looks great! Keep it up!

Very very nice, my concept is similar in a few small toutches, but this is a beautiful entry.
Suppose I should have got a kick ass concept artist to do the art for me huh… :slight_smile:

OK,

Finally go the low poly mesh finished up. Sitting at about 7000 tris, so I’ll bring that down during uv and optomization. I am so far back it’s funny, but still worth a shot. And SPARK, I’m sure that you can eyeball the mesh and tell me EXACTLY how many poly’s I can save:) I know you are cool like that.

Well,

I probably will not finish in time for the competition, short of a week long reprieve. Trying to finish this up on vacation wih sick kids was probably no thte best idea either…oh well:)

I’ll still put together a quick weapon and throw a quick rig in there just for grins.

Thanks to all the people who posted feedback on my thread. Thanks to my boys Muppet Man, Spark, and Red Rebublik for all the feedback and critique. And a special thanks to Matt Burke for the amazing concept. I’m sorry that I let you down man. But, this has been an awesome learning experience.
