Dominance War II: AndrewBina

#1

I know I’m late but heres my thread. I have a broken arm (don’t ask!) and I’m waiting to get my cast off so I can start the model.

<<::Updated::>>

Done…enjoy.

Here are some very rough thumbs.

Concept coming very soon!

#2

im loving the silhouette, especially on teh 4th one…

#3

Thanks. I am working out the details so a more finished concept will be up soon.

#4

This is my first concept for this guy. I know the centaur thing has been done but this guy is ready to kick some arse. Hope you guys like it…

…more to come.

#5

Here are a couple shots of the base mesh created in Maya. I am going to try sculpting in MudBox instead of ZBrush just to keep things interesting. This should be fun since I’ve never used it before.

Times running out so please excuse the mad dash that will be taking place in this thread.

#6

Good start on the model … could you provide some more information about
tri-count and a wire shot?

#7

The images above are not the “basemesh”, they are shots of the box model in MudBox before I started sculpting.

Here is a little more progress.

more to come…

#8

Still working but here are some detail shots of his hands.

#9

This is the finished HiRes without the armor on it. I have no idea how I am going to get this done in time but I will.

#10

Nice centaur. I like the variations, espec the rear toe spikes. Do you think they’re big enough and strong enough to balance the front end? Centaurs are naturally front-heavy, I think he could use really overpowered rear legs.

#11

Good point. I think I will compensate the rear half with some gear to try and bulk it up a bit.

#12

I am going to post images of my progress here shortly.

#13

YES!!! I just got my cast off this morning. I can model now. 4 days left, I hope I can finish.

#14

I really like how the model is turning out. The mouth area is looking a littlebit funny imho … like an angry rabbit

Ah and you should take a look on the Dominance War Website … because they’ve updated the deadline … so you got a littlebit more time to finish your entry.

#15

Its funny that you say that he looks like an angry rabbit because thats exactly what I thought when I looked at it. His mouth looks funny now because he is actually going to have something in his mouth similar to a horse’s bit.

That extension feels like a ton of bricks have been lifted off my shoulders.

Thanks for the crit.

Here are some rough gear concepts. I have labeled them so that you guys and gals can let me know which one you think is most successful. I have to finish modeling soon so your opinion will be much appreciated.

#18

my initial reaction would be for A, C, or H in choosing.

GL, and better hurry

#19

I like the headgear and shoulder pads on C, don’t cover up too much of that gorgeous face. I’m a big fan of asymmetry, so I like the straps in B for one arm and the gauntlet in A or K ro the other. I also like the asymmetrical shoulders in K, but then you’d need the gauntlet arm to be on the same side as the shoulder pad, and the strappy arm on the same side as the cloaked shoulder. Any combo will look great, I’m sure.

Cool character! I like the “I”
