testing out some 3D Printed hinges!
Doing 3d Printing? Show us your work...
Wow that is amazing… How is that coming along?
Ok here are some WIP
Here is a VERY RAW WIP of some raw 3d prints I have been doing.
The directive from my boss is that the 3d prints should be able to print from cheaper 3d Printers in ONE piece. …JOY
I’ve been trying out 3D printing on an Ultimaker 2 recently, here is some of my work
Looking great. What are your settings for printing on Ultimaker? I started experimenting today on Ultimaker 2 Extended but still trying to get perfect settings.
Thanks
I sent an image of one of my drawings off to fiverr and I printed the result.
The process is documented here as part of my 3D print lab series.
My friend Rahul from Blokko.com proposed me to make a toy or figurine for abs printers. We wanted that everybody who has a 3d printer, can print this 23 cm figurine even with the smallest ones. So we split the model in parts that can be printed in a 10x10 cm bed.
I had the freedom to choose any character, so I decided to do one the people already knows and I always loved but never found a good figurine or toy because his secondary role in the movie.
That’s why Behemoth from THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS it materialized in my 3d printer.
This model is a fan art and it’s free for download at Blokko.com in the Toys section. Here DOWNLOAD
Cheers!
I hope to add something to this thread soon
digodiego - How did you merge the pieces together, since as you mentioned they were printed separately ?
Hi Falam,
I use Loctite (Super glue) :). Once you merge the parts you can do other pass with Loctite and before gets dry sprinkle some bicarbonate on top. The bicarbonate reacts with the Loctite and in seconds you have it hard. After you can sand the extra material to get a even surface.
Here you can see all the parts.
Cheers!
Very nice
How did you, get the socket pieces just right on the model, what did you do ? Also do you have any fail safe techniques to share ?
Hi Falam,
I use Zbrush and Dynamesh for merge and rest volumes. For print just make sure you layout the parts with the flat surfaces along the bed. So, for example, the vertical cut in the body will be horizontal in the bed. The hands will be vertical with the socket piece resting in the bed. And so on. Does it make sense? For the post processing I like to sand the part first, after I give it an acetone bath (vapor) and sand it again for find and cover imperfections. You can totally go with the acetone only if you want, but for me works good in that way.
Please, if you print it out, let me know how you find the assemble process and if you have any comments for improve it.
Cheers!
By the way, I found that the 2nd pass with the thin sand paper helps also the acrylic to stick better on the surface.

I know this isn’t a 3d print question but what technique did you use on the painting? it’s very well done :applause:
Hi all,
i like to share a test print of a fractal, i made recently with a ZPrinter 650 (Pastell Color Mode instead of Vibrant was used), which our boss purchased.

Stefan
I love printing very small items, with detail. Using a 0.2mm nozzle on my modified Printrbot 1405 XL, I found where my limit was.
Hi all,
Mona Lisa run through DeepDream and then printed as relief. Hope you like!

Stefan
Wow, that looks amazing! Are the fractals recessed? Could you take a picture at a sharper angle?
