Does anyone use OpenCue? [SOLVED]

#1

Is it compatible with C4D ?
I can’t understand how it is supposed to work without being hosted to the main app.

#2

Do you mean you want to set up your own render farm with OpenCue? If you do, I’m not going to be able to help you, but if not, the OpenCue implementation in Cinema 4D is still called Zync Render (bought out by Google Cloud Services). It is built-in to C4D, you just need to set up an account etc., with the benefit that you get $300 credit for free when you register. Maxon have tutorials on this implementation and how to use it:

I don’t want to setup my own farm !
I thought it was a free farm unlike Zync …
So Zync and OpenCue is the same thing ?

OpenCue is open source and free in and of itself, but is only for render management, not actual rendering and is much like paid software called Deadline for Amazon Web Services. As far as I can ascertain, Zync now uses Google Cloud Services and OpenCue is its management system.

As far as I’m aware, there’s no render farm that is going to actually render your files for free. Even if you set up your own farm, at the very least, you’d need to pay for storage and processing power, albeit possibly cloud-based.
