Dmonks place of sketching

#1

Hi! this is my first post here, so i decided to create a sketchbook right away.
I’m currently studying Communication Design in Kiel, Germany.
I started painting digitally maybe 3-4 years ago, mainly using Photoshop.

here are some recent sketches. i’m not sure, is a sketchbook also the right place to show finished pieces?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy , flying cephalopod, one of my favorite topics
Great concept dude (shame I can’t speak german) and it’s nice you can handle pencil so well. You are very creative and it’s pleasure to see this kind of work around. Keep posting

Damn, crazy stuff, I was wondering why my sketchbook was getting no comments, and I stumble across yours and I’m even more puzzled how you just have one. Crazy inspiring stuff you got there, great use of color, I love the stone faces. All of your stuff has great depth and contrast.

thanks alot guys! mcuh appreciated!
zac: yeah, commenting on other peoples work has always been a little ‘difficult’ ^^-.-

here is todays speedpaint.
after i tried (again) for 4 hours to get into painter i got frustrated and spend one hour in photoshop, throwing together some random brushes and shapes.

Man the last piece there is just exquisitely colored, the colors just work so well, and the two underworld paintings are just so effortlessly atmospheric, great work.

cheers outlaw!

new underworld batch. i did a redesign of a previous character, hades. you can find the original design here: http://fav.me/d212lem
here’s my approach. i was inspired first by the visual storytelling workshop by ian mccaig and usesd a similar approach as he did for his merking, (you can obviously see that :P)
however i took a step backwards and made it more fish-like.

damn picture limit…

#13

marker scribbles taken into photshop

#15

Great concepts dude and you handle pencil very well
The last sketch looks promising and I hope you will rush less and take your time especially at these early stages of the painting. I would cut the image using selections into 3 layers, basically into fore/mid/background and make big and easy changes right now to see what’s the best way to follow.
Keep up

You have a great imagination. I’m impressed by your work. Very creative.

You posess very good visualisation skills. I would like to see your work published someday, I can see you working as a conceptual artist for a video game company or sci fi films.

I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful work.
