Dissolve Issues with Focus

#1

Hello all of you very helpful gurus.

I am having an issue that I simply cannot solve. I have tried numerous ideas, to no avail.

I have the face and body of my subject dissolving, and on top of it a mask comes into full resolve. At the point right before the subject disappears entirely and the mask comes up fully, the background wall is in complete focus in the outline of the figure’s body and face. I do not want this to happen.

Does this make sense? I have tried to speed up the dissolve. I have tried to slow the dissolve. I have tried to render on different machines. Nothing seems to make a difference.

Also, I am using a Digital Confusion Blur filter. I am using 11.5.1.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :bounce:

without knowing the specific problem, from your description, I can think of a few ways to handle this

  1. render the face dissolving and the mask resolving separately. Separate out the background.
  2. render the face dissolving and the mask resolving in the same render but separate out the background.
  3. do the dissolve transition as 2d elements in lightwave (map polygons with image sequences of the face, and then map polygons with image sequences for the mask, and dissolve those)

Thank you very much for the input. I will try your suggestion(s) and report back with results!
