Displacement render problem

#1

Dear Forumers,

I am trying to render a pipe which I modelled as a NURBS SURFACE, which is ribbed. I piped a grid with just V width into the diplacement mat section in the shading group.

The problem is that as I increase the repeat UV V attribute of the place2dtexture node (300 should be the correct value) after a certain point the width of the displacements don’t get any smaller.

Really confused. NB: Using Arnold renderer and an ai standard material.

Any help much appreciated,

Cheers,

Nick.

  1. Since rendering itself is all about sampling , it’s not possible to get infinite details ( shading ) within constrained sampling grid ( basically resolution ). So no matter how high a sampling rate , after a certain point you have to either tune filtering or increase resolution to get a placeholder for those details.

  2. Surface tesselation ( more likely ) should be set to higher values.

Thanks. The tessellation tweaking worked a treat.
