We are currently looking for GRAPHICS SOFTWARE ENGINEERS, PROCESS TOOLS SOFTWARE ENGINEERS, and LINUX KERNEL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERS to join the team at our Burbank, CA studio.
GRAPHICS SOFTWARE ENGINEERS are responsible for analyzing production procedures and problems, evaluating the effectiveness of existing systems, and making recommendations to improve output, efficiency, and workflow. They partner with production personnel to determine user needs and review system capabilities to decide what changes can be made within the existing systems and when new systems must be added. Graphics Software Engineers will often work with developers and/or end-users on multiple films. Design responsibilities include the creation of new C, C++, Mel, Perl or Python code or the modification of existing code, whichever meets productions needs in the timeliest manner. Regression testing and analyzing of software, code check-in/integration, and distribution are part of the SWEs implementation responsibilities. Experience with commercial 3D packages such as Maya (preferred), Houdini or Softimage and with the development of 3D graphics applications is required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field. Masters degree or PhD preferred.
Five years experience in development using C++ language and UNIX.
Experience in he development of 3D Computer Graphics Tools and Maya plug-ins a necessity.
PROCESS TOOLS SOFTWARE ENGINEERS develop software tools for film production and will often work with developers and/or end-users on multiple films. Design responsibilities include the creation of new C or C++ code or the modification of existing code, whichever meets productions needs in the most timely manner. Regression testing and analyzing of software, code check-in/integration, and distribution are part of the SWEs implementation responsibilities. Software Engineers needs to be on call and able to analyze system glitches, track them to the corrupted code, implement timely repairs, and make recommendations for avoiding similar situations via code/software/system changes. Software Engineers must be able to work independently with technical and non-technical users to determine user needs, have strong documentation techniques, and possess creativity in developing easy-to-use tools and quick fixes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field. Masters degree preferred.
Five years experience in development using C++ language and UNIX.
Experience in the development of 3D Computer Graphics
LINUX KERNEL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERS solve development and integration problems among many internal and 3rd party software products. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, with experience in systems level programming and interfacing software applications with UNIX systems. Experience with Linux operating systems, compilers, libraries and kernel issues are required. The successful candidate will also be able to contribute to software application development and support using C++, C, UNIX shell scripting and Java. Experience with databases (maintaining and programming) and knowledge of web, systems and network architectures are highly desirable.
Qualifications:
3+ years Software Development
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience
Linux, compilers, libraries, and kernel issue experience
C++, C, UNIX shell scripting, Java
Desired:
Troubleshoot/Debug Linux distribution (RedHat/RH9/Fedora/SUSE) 2.4 and 2.6 kernel issues
C/C++ Development skill set, ability to build and port C++ compiler for multiple platforms (Linux, Sun, OS/X)
Porting experience in migrating to 64 bit operating systems
Troubleshoot/Debug/Upgrade gcc compiler and related OS issues
Knowledge of Systems and Network Architecture
Multimedia library development (Audio & Video)
Database (Maintaining and programming) experience
Knowledge and experience in web technologies: XML, SOAP, HTTP, CGI
Previous experience in an animation production
