discrete loop selection per surface?

Hi Guys.

If I have non loop edges selected on one model part and double click to select a loop on a second discrete part, the first parts selections also get looped.

Is there a way to get discrete loop selection per surface/part while leaving other selections unlooped?

*this is for models with lots of small parts, so I would like to have few parts on a layer and not all seperate.

I think I saw a script on vertexmonkey yesterday that did what you want.
