I have trackball rotate disabled in the prefrences which does work for the buttons at the top. But how can i also disable it for the hot key “alt+Left button”. Also ive heard people say the the trackball rotate is kick ass with a tablet, i have a 9x11 wacom that i use all the time in photoshop (so i comfterable with a tablet) but for the life of me i cant even get to the back of an object without REAL pain. any suggestions on that front?

To disable trackball universally, should also tick ‘override viewport level trackball option’ from the system>prefs.
If this isn’t ticked, you can press ‘o’ over any 3d viewport and switch trackball rotation on or off for that particular viewport.
Personally I like both systems. I switch between trackball and ‘normal’ rotation depending on what I’m doing. Sometimes for modelling and painting you need trackball on in order to orientate your object to the desired rotation.
