destructing mesh into smaller meshes?


i’ve always wondered how they make things explode? Meaning they break up into smaller meshes. I wanna make a rock which falls to the ground and breaks into 12-15 pieces. So what would be the best way to do this? i don’t want to make the rock in 12-15 pieces from the start. I think that would be a lame run-around. (What if one day i’ve to make a car explode?).

any ideas?


p.s… i do know that a mesh breakup to polygon script exists… but i want smaller meshes :slight_smile:


Since you want smaller meshes, I would suggest that you tesselate your geometry and then use the breakup script. That is the only way to make “smaller than polygon” parts.
