Demon Skull: Materials Experiment

#1

I made this tonight just messing around with modeling and materials. I am trying to get a realistic effect with my materials. Unfortunately, these renders are slightly under anti-aliased, as my computer takes about 6 hours to render with global supersampling enabled.

Can somebody at least comment on whether or not the materials look good? I would appreciate some feedback here.

yea, i know what you meen about the global sampleing. it can be a bitch.

anyway, overall it looks pretty good. i think that where the wires pass through the skull shouldnt be so smooth. it just looks like geometry passing through one another. make the skull look a little more effected by it and i think it will kick it up a knotch.

otherwise… patients is a virtue,
but time on the otherhand is just plain hard to find.

looks like chrome to me.

i also agree with the other post. make the steel(chrome) look like its peircing his head/skull. maybe add some stitches or scar tissue around the intersections.

i think if his eyes glowed or had that gas stuff coming out of the eyes it would look cooler.

does he stick his head out of the ball thing like a tutrtle ? will this be animated ?
(just noticing the difference between the first shot and the others)
