Delete material list/history

#1

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to delete the material list/material history?

Thanks.

unlink the material data-blocks you want deleted form any/all users, save your .blend file,
and either exit blender or just ‘file>open’ the same file again after saving.

the reason it works like this is that blender purges all unused/user-less
data-blocks on file close/application exit.

hope this helps.

edit: when I say unlink, I mean clear users,
with users off course in this case I mean the object,
so just clear the material from the object.

Great…thanks for that.

Another thing, do you know how to assign keyboard shortcuts or even better how to create a button?

Cheers.

this tutorial is a great example of keyboard shortcut assignment:
http://www.blendercookie.com/2010/05/17/custom-hot-keys/

As for creating buttons/customizing ui, that’s done trough python,
but alas I haven’t dug into that myself, at least not yet,
so can’t particularly help there.

for simpler cases though, you can jut create drivers for values, etc.

a good example of drivers in action in this video by Bassam Kurdali:
