Debating on AAU... Thoughts?

#1

Hi, I just moved here from Chicago two months ago, and I’m ready to go back to school. I already have a normal Associates from a community college, and I started doing Information Tech at a 4 year uni in Chicago but left because I feel I was pushed into it from family. Now that I’m here, I’m open to all choices.

Game development has always been something I was fascinated in. So I started doing research, and at first thought AAU for a BFA was a good fit, however, I started looking at some reviews around the web, so I am not quite sure what to think anymore. Also, 2400+ for a class is crazy, and I am hoping some of my gen ed classes can transfer over from my community college. On one hand, I feel I should take great notice in these reviews because they are real life experiences from students who attended there. On the other hand, I feel people are more likely to speak out about a school (or company, restaurant, etc etc) when they have a bad experience, rather a good experience.

I have read things like they care more about the real estate rather than the education, etc. Not sure if these reviews are just because students expect to go there (since it is a 100% acceptance rate I heard, which is weird) and easily get a degree without doing much work.

I have an open house next week at the college, so I was thinking about going around and asking current students some questions as well. So does anyone have any history or experience with this AAC? Stay away? Give it a shot? Any feedback will help. Thanks!
