daz puppeteer

#1

Hi all,
I’m getting back into animation after a couple of years break and i’m looking at upgrading the old pmG to studio. Also I have also been looking at some of the new packages around. Such as DAZ. I really like the puppeteer tool and how one can animate (granted it can be a bit rough) very quickly in it. I have spent a bit of time prepping an object to rig and test in it and so far well… results are okay. But i’m thinking i would rather setup in messiah for other animations.
Anyway I was wondering if there is a similar tool in messiah to Daz’s puppeteer?
Something that can record the keyframes in realtime while one fiddles with a joystick or slider etc?

here is a video demonstrating http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AZRYJC9RV8

cheers
peace

In Messiah, creating a pose is as simple as right clicking and picking “new” and then at any time in your animation you can go back to that pose by right clicking and picking it from a list.

This Daz method of scrubbing between poses is quite fun. I remember seeing it back in the Animation Master Arctic Pigs days. Its. . . kind of interesting but . . . (man I’m going to sound so snobbish here) any “serious” animation should not be done this way. Timing and arcs and “hitting” your poses and secondary animation and all that are just so so important. . .

thanks wegg,
look i do agree with you in reagrds to control etc.
I have been animating with LW since version 4.0 (pc prerelease actually),
It just sometimes when i have been playing around with controls it looks good and works as a sort of timing test experiment. I guess i still have puppeteering in my blood and have always looked for this organic approach to animating.
even as a sort of sock puppet style of animating. (which never seemed to be the case with the lightwave named plugin)
i’d love to be able to do this i know i can use the pose sets in messiah and am looking forward to utilising them - when i get my upgrade (V4 is about to be realesed!)
