Typical Dassault marketing spin!
I don’t imagine the services part will last long under Dassault.
Yes, talk about marketing drivel. I’m at work now, so I should prepare myself to socially innovate in my virtual universe.

Well … to me this seems to be some kind of a reaction to Autodesk’s acquisition of PI-VR in january 2013
I’m planing to apply to RTT and that’s why I was brushing a little my Maya skills. Now I’m curious how much Autodesk Software will be left there in next 6-12 months. Dassault uses Nexus technology from Luxology, maybe they will go full Modo + Houdini for things they don’t have in their own software?
RTT has a huge contract/account with GM and a few other companies. Their entire pipeline is wrapped around Maya/Nuke so going to Modo, especially for very heavy CAD data prep is rather stupid and impractical. They have a ton of custom engineering invested in Maya too. In the next 2 years…who knows.
what it could be is that dassault is changing there strategy.
because they lost in december 2010 mercedes and with that also 12 university’s.
dassault is loosing in the cad area so they need other tools for monopolizing there tools.
you have to think if mercedes succeeds others will follow or dassault has to drop the price massively on catia.
just for compair a start price of catia is equal to: autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate 2014 + NukeX + Modo together.
for rtt you have to pay approx. 20x more then a modo licens. (depending on configuration but it’s much cheaper the catia)
and for them to think dassault is scared about autodesk it’s not true the are scared of siemens. because they can deliver all the cad tools for the car/aerospace industry and there dassault makes the big money.
I’m pretty sure they will axe the services department or separate it out as a standalone entity its not their way to do those kind of services in-house they usually rely on partners their core business is software development.
It’s actually not very good news for Modo either imho Dassault tend to like to use as much in-house software as possible and integrate new acquisitions as much as possible into their existing platforms, it would make sense for them to replace the modo renderer with the RTT in solidworks what is the point of paying royalties for a technology which you now own an equivalent off?
You cannot compare the price of some DCC app’s to a product like CATIA completely different markets…
RTT has some really nice deals with many large car companies solidifying their foothold in those accounts is probably what this is mostly about.
