That’s awesome, looked at getting the modify3d pen that allows you to heat up the pen (like a soldering iron) and basically melt and sculpt the plastic, it seems nice and also comes with 4 tips for cutting, flattening and so on.
Darth Vader
I’ll personally will 3d print the part at I cant actually tradionnal sculpt. Like if I go miniture, no way I can be symmetrical or detail enough. But for big shape, like my actual great white shark (see my blog ) I plan to tradionnal sculpt it. Only the Scuba diver next to him will be 3d print.
Any way back to your vader. Do you have other plans? like start sculpting the Vader chamber or maybe an other characters from star wars?
That shark looks great so far only thing that is needed is to add the gills and smooth the surface.
For my Vader i plan on making him like a lamp , bought some electroluminescent wire at 3.2 mm diameter to be used as the saber and want to use a led light underneath towards the character, i did a simple render to show what i am going for.

Started to paint the model, i only have black acrylic paint so i just covered the entire model, will order more paint soon for the rest of the body.

What a fantastic idea! I think the details of the print came out great, my only gripe is the bulkiness of his physique (he should be more like a bodybuilder) might be a restriction of the printing process tho. I hope you share your future printing projects too, pretty cool to see the process.
To Psyk0:
This was mentioned before in a previous post but since my account at imageshack expired the images aren’t available anymore.
When i was making the character i matched the body underneath the costume to a photo of David Prowse and if i were to remove the complete helmet you would see that his head is a lot smaller making his body seem bigger, i also used as a reference the Darth Vader made by Blur Studio and i would say it looks pretty close to that plus i also tried to make him wider but it made him look weird with all the elements on top.
Next i need to print the cape and it will make him look different so that might fix the problem and will make him look more menacing.

Thanks man, really appreciate it.
Got some metallic Citadel Leadbelcher paint from someone at work and painted all the metal parts with it and i ordered some grey paint as well for the armour, should be arriving this week.

A quick update, been super busy with projects and work but managed to 3d print the cape and decided to split it into 2 parts due to it’s size and print time.
If you guys want to see more 3d prints i’ve done check out my twitter bellow.
Cheers

Hey Scote, didn’t know a heatgun could be used on a electroluminescent wire the fact is that it’s just like a normal wire and i need something to harden it to a straight line, i was thinking of using a transparent pen cover to hold it’s shape.
Hi everyone, it’s been a while since i posted here, got a new resin printer and made a bunch of stuff but decided to go back to Vader and reprint him with the newest technology, i also added surface detail on the highpoly and prepped him for resin printing and added better keys.
More details on my page.
The other hand printed and made a CCFL lightsaber for the old Vader print but will be using it on the new print, the color is a bright red almost pink so i need to paint the transparent heat-shrink tube that’s on top with transparent red.
