Cynder the Dragon

#1

Hi guys, this is my first try with a model completely realized in Zbrush. This is a little reinterpretation of the original model of Cynder the Dragon.I’m not convinced of the scales on the body and pectoral carapace and have some problem with the membrane veins.Hope you can help me with your experience and be critical pls.Thank you in advance for your patience and support and excuse me,my english in not too good.

Hi,

It’s a good first step and the proportion are good (most get their head like this at first :banghead: )

My first advice would be to create one single mesh for almost everything you got. You can have subtool when you have natural cuts (eyes, horn, claws, etc…). But the body itself should be a massive subtool.

My second advice would be to avoid sculpting pattern that can be recognizable. We can feel the stroke of dots on the wings.

For a first model, it’s pretty good. Most people try something smaller first

Keep going and feel free to ask for help

Thank you very much for your disposability and your advice Air0ne, I’ll make 'treasure of it.You are right, the body is a sigle mesh, while the rest are a lot of single’s soobtools, seems strange but I get along well working in this way .I agree with you for the wings, tried a lot of things but for now nothing seems good.Stay tuned for the upgrade and Thank you again for all.

I really dig the shapes so far. Especially the head is nicely done. I miss the muscle tone a bit do. I don’t know if you go for a cartoon look or more realistic. But I suggest to get more shapes out of the body and especially the legs. They look a bit too clean.

Like it. Nice Spyro dragon… or kind of

The pose let me think you use a dog for anatomical reference

Seems like the horns and wings are just sitting on the body.No connection.
Needs more muscle tone and all the toes seem the same length/size.
Looking good tho’!

Thank you luck6 for appreciation,I’m trying to realize a middle way from realistic to cartoon.I’ll follows your advice, thank you again.

Hi Scote, for the reference I used this but you are right, most of the inspiration come from my little dog Maya.

Thank you for your feedback Curtis10945.You are right the parts you mentioned have no connection with the shape of the body for now, waited to see if mesh work correctly. The toes have all the same length and size, worked hard to do it,but maybe I was wrong.

PS:sorry for the delay of some message, the first two messages are under evaluation of moderators and it take a bit of time.

Hi,a little modify on the mesh.Following your advice i tried to give a little bit of muscle tone, some volume around the head Horns and a diffente and less obscene veins on the wings. Is not a big progress and need other modify, but in this days don’t have a lot of time, work and my cat illness keep me busy.Thank’s to all in advance for any suggestion and comment.

Sorry for the delay, don’t have much time in this days. The body scale are complete( maybe ),same for the wings and the rest of the the drake, only some details miss.I Started an armor, for now only head and neck protection.I have no experience with the hard surface, usually I work on Maya and use Zbrush only for the details but there is always a first time.Advice ad Critics are welcome.Thank you in advance.

#13

Hi,the project proceeds more slowly than I expected.I think this is the final aspect of the armor, need some refine and more details. Now missing protections for the limbs, tail and spikes on the wings. As always Advice a critics are welcome.
