A SAMPLE OF WHAT’S ON OFFER

Gravity (Framestore)

Framestore’s involvement in Alfonso Cuarons’ Gravity was far from conventional. Tim’s talk will describe how they employed CG working practices to optimise how the film was planned and filmed, and show how they used novel capture and rendering technologies to bring the directors vision to the big screen.

The Art and Science of Stereo Conversion (Prime Focus)
Eoin Greenham, Global Head of View-D™ Pipeline and Rajat Roy, Global Technical Supervisor at Prime Focus will explore in detail the ‘Art and Science’ of creating compelling stereo 3D imagery from a 2D source with reference to*stereo conversion work on shows such as Gravity, Star Wars Episodes I-III, The Wizard of Oz, World War Z and more.

Beyond the Pixel: Scene representation in the era of computational videography (Intel Institute of Visual Computing)

In his talk, Professor Thorsten Herfet, Director of Research and Operations at the IVCI will give an overview of the European Commission funded project SCENE, which invents a new scene representation maintaining all information captured and enabling pre-processing to add semantic information that eases the post-production process. In addition the talk will demonstrate scalable display walls for extremely high-resolution reproduction of moving images that will support the new workflow.
