CS4 and 3D

#1

I’m hoping some one can help this is drivin’ me nuts… I’ve got a 3d object in cs4 added a 2d layer above it painted onther 2d layer and when I merge it with the 3d layer the end result is not as bright as the origonal 2d layer - I’m working with unlit rendering mode if that makes any difference - all i want to do is to paint on a 2d layer (projection mode i suppose you could say) then merge it down and have it look exactly like it did when it was a 2d layer above the 3d one… if that makes sense…

I really hope someone can help me with this - like I say it’s driving me nuts

Thanks in advance (fingers crossed)

It’s likely just the lighting. Since the original image is now on the 3D object it is effected by the lights in your 3D Photoshop scene. By default there are 3 infinate lights, play with the intensity a bit. You can also, on your material (_ps_3d_default) change the ambient to a white color, which will help brighten the object and the textures you have on it.

Cheers mate  But I’ve tried all the usual suspects and nothing seems to work… I’m starting to think it’s not possible…back to deep paint I’m thinking :frowning:

Works fine over here. As far as actually painting on a 3D object to get your maps, I find that Photoshop tends to not give crisp results in the 2D image. I prefer Mudbox for this over all the other applications I’ve tried.
