Crystal Hearts - Short Film WIP

#1

Hi all!

It’s been a long road getting to this stage but I have finally begun working on my short film Crystal Hearts. I’ve decided to start this thread to keep a record of my progress and keep it updated with new images on a regular basis as I work my way through this project.

I’m really excited to start this project as it took me a ridiculously long time to write the screenplay and plan all of the shots, about a year!

So what is the short about? It’s about a man that has two children called Edward and Emily, he didn’t want them to grow up in a world that he thought was corrupt and evil so he created an artificial environment for them to live in. The two children are completely unaware that a world outside of there own exists and live happily in the perfect world that there father has created. The short takes place when the two children are now twenty years old and the daughter is gravely ill with a hereditry disease that her mother also died from. The short film is about the last day that the family will spend together.

The software i’m using for the project is Blender and Gimp.

I’ve begun work on the first character for the short Edward:

Still very much a work in progress, many things I want to improve upon before I start work on the rest of the body.

Please let me know any thoughts you have! this is going to be a tough project to complete so i’ll need all of your thoughts and feedback when you have them, many thanks!

Hi Jason, I think for the time being it would be better to post these model WIP in the modeling thread to get better feedback on that aspect of your short film. Usually in these threads people only look for animation WIP. Is this project going to be photoreal? The model looks pretty good. Keep it up

Hi Rigoberto,

I wasn’t sure where to post this but I think you’re right, the majority of my work for the time being will be mostly modeling, texturing and lighting. I’ve created a thread in the relevant section and will return here later on when I have some animated shots to crit. Many thanks.
