Crossing the uncanny valley WIP

#421

Thanks Wyatt, i appreciate that .)

looks like a lot of people missed it, which is for me kinda sad and disappointing to be honest

#422

yes “a moment of silence” please!.. absolutely blown away man. u sure ain’t not only crossed the uncanny valley, u inspired a lot of people if i might say that. i sure as hell can say that. i showed your post to a couple of people, though they do not share my fucking excitement for your project, which is absurd in itself. i can only say thank you and please let us know about your next project!! YOU ROCK!

sincerely, kay

#423

to say that is’t great means nothing to say! thanks for inspiration!

#424

You put allot of time and effort into this and it really shows. Good job man!

#425

It’s really great work, dude!

#426

cheers guys.

but since the final image wasn’t received too well… turns out people expected to see this in form of a realistic study… so why not? im making it into a simple realistic study

to keep this thread alive a little longer, heres the latest render :

c&c appreciated

#427

Pretty sure that would pass as an ID photo

#428

Don’t worry, your final image was brilliant, personally I prefer it to the simpler second one (not that there is anything wrong with the second one). Sorry for being too lazy to comment earlier!
I wanted to thank you for sharing with us the journey that led to this impressive achievement!

#429

heh, thanks dudes

i actually wanted to use it for some sort of ID.
unfortunately in most cases they take a picture of you right on location
rarely you can bring your own photo nowadays

anyway, heres a newer b&w version :

#430

Greeeeeeeeeeeat job Lukas!!

#431

I think many of us here are wandering if you’re going to finish the animation of this model.

And about ID photo - don’t know if this works in your country but here it is possible to play fool and bring already printed photo saying you thought that you need one. And embassies would normally require a preprinted 4x3 photo for visas. After all you did such a great job. It would be a shame to give up on that last step. =)

#432

Thanks Ricardo

Sergey_ I’ll just print couple in case an opportunity to use them emerges .)
as for the animation, it was just a proof of concept i wanted to try out, which prove successful in my book as is. i dont feel like spending more time on this and rendering that sequence, ill rather start something new

#433

Oh, sad to hear that about animation tests. But your work is still phenomenal and I totally understand your will to change the subject.
Well, I’m sure lots of people will track any of your future projects so keep up that level of quality and good luck!

#434

Fantastic thread, one of the best I’ve seen, thanks for shearing

#435

I freaking LOVE your work, man! The final render is really good and I’m so happy to see you keep on rendering. Way back you did some render tests with varying HDRIs. I’d love to see this rendered in other natural environments, both sunny days and clouded. You have a lot of uncovered ground rendering-wise and I look forward to keep seeing more from you!

#436

Speechless, this is awesome work, 4 years in the making Lukas…you’ve done a monumental achievement. I got to this WIP thread while I was checking out the CGChoice candidates (which I saw you posted earlier, and it got buried, but now ressurected to Editors Choice, and of course Front Page)… this is surely on it’s way to CGChoice…congrats!!

#437

thanks guys.

David : 2 years would be more accurate. even that was way too long .)

#438

Thanks for the great thread Kybel. I actually visit it quite frequently to absorb some extra knowledge :stuck_out_tongue:

#439

I’ve been following this thread for almost 3 years. Amazing job!

#440

It’s a shame the images are no longer available. Does anyone know if they can still be found somewhere.
