Crossing the uncanny valley WIP

#401

by default its i think render density = 10*viewport density. i left it that way.
yeah, displacament in yeti is messed up

#402

Just awesome!!!
Looks so realistic.

May I ask you how long takes to render a close up like in the last pic yo posted?

Looking forward to see this complete finish.

#403

thanks man.

sorry, im not sure what was the render time for the last one.

#404

so I’m very late to the party but i wanted to try photofly and it doesn’t seem to be available. Did they change the name or discontinue it? if so can you suggest an alternate app?

#405

You’re kidding, right?! I just constantly look forward to seeing renders from this, it never gets old!

#411

thanks Nick, here’s an update for you then ,)

i enjoy doing little autistic details.
wasting time doing stuff as unnecessary as this, is a good sign of an end almost in reach.

#412

Great job, looks very convincing. Could you share on how you did those worn spots and holes on the cloth?

#413

are you using NASA’s Workstation to create this? :eek:

amazing work! :bowdown: love the cloth details and the skin and the hair, everything :D! can you share the wireframe? :smiley:

Alex ::
holes were made in photoshop, everything else was built in the shaders

Abbhie ::

well actually i made it purely on a mobile wokrstation (HP EliteBook 8560w, i7 quadcore, 24G RAM)
for the final render i used a 6 core i7 machine with 32G of RAM , since 24 wasnt enough

I seriously feel like we need a few moments of silence for this one. Completely amazing work, my friend. Well done indeed. Now go and enjoy a cold beer for yourself and take a couple of minutes to yourself.

#417

Congrats, incredible success. This is the most photo realistic character model I have ever seen. You should do something for an environment for it now.

#418

Definitely you’ve crossed the uncanny valley!

Be very proud of this amazing work and thrilling journey you’ve got, and thank you very much for sharing it with all of us.

My respect and admiration, Lukas.

Edit: Do I need to say this piece deserves a FRONTPAGE and a CGS Award? :arteest:

#419
