Creating mountains. Technical questions

#1

Hi everybody!
Not long time ago started learning VUE and though I’ve read the manual, a lot of questions remain unclear for me. Hope there are people who can help me to figure them out quicker. I want to create mountains like this:

And this is what I could get after sculpting basic form and adding few fractals (settings below).

So now when I look into the render and the photos, my questions are:

  1. How can I make the outlines of the rocks more “square-shaped”? Mine look too round to me, not really look like rocks.
  2. On real pictures the rocks are not always vertical, but directed slightly to the sides. But the function I have always makes them all aligned vertically. How can I make it lean?
  3. Am I doing this right in general? Maybe I should use different fractals or should tweak all that in settings of material?
Would be glad to hear any advise.

The terrain’s height and material will depend mostly on the scale and how detailed the fractal you use is. To get things to point up at an angle, you need to rotate the terrain so that it is at the angle you want.
