Covering a surface with non interpenetrating particles


hu, i’m trying to make an object as it was made out of matches, something like this:

so i need to get particles to spawn all over my surface with out intercepting and as tightly packed as possible…
any ideas?


If the model isn’t animated you could birth on verts in either Pflow or TP. This would give you the look that you see and would be most predictable as you know exactly where your particles are going to algin on the mesh.

If that is going to be an animated mesh due to the apparent density, you might be better off thinking of a different solution.

You could try separating the particles by their radius to keep apart.

Birth on the mesh and use a physic engine to keep the particles from interpenetrating.
