couple of great books for visual inspiration

i think they’re really worth it, anyway. good reads at the very least. enjoy.

‘the book thief’ by markus zusak amazing writing with vivid visual descriptions, somewhat akin to synethesia in humans, by the main narrator, that work perfectly as a descriptive narrative. if you like kurt vonnegut, you’ll atleast like the writing in this one.

i see a graphic novel, or, dare i say…puppets?.

[and if you’re into vampires, the charlie huston [author] joe pitt detective series is also lots of fun, most recently, “every last drop”, the fourth [starting with ‘already dead’]. snarky vampires tossing out verbal sentiments like twisted hallmark valentines [" gee, i’d offer you a cup of coffee, but i don’t like you." ]

Maybe we can turn this thread into a general book thread if you don’t mind; what you are reading and recommend, cause as a friend of mine said “people that don’t read suck”

right now I’m reading a classic: “War of the Worlds” and I have “A Game of Thrones” lined up next.

I read so much tech stuff at work that I’m usually spent by the time I get home.

Having said that though, my wife is seriously into the Twilight books. As in, she read the first one, liked it so much that she went out and bought the other 3 books and finished reading them in 3 days. I thought the movie looked stupid but books are usually better so I gave the first one a try. Bleah, I couldn’t get past the first chapter. IMO This is definitely a woman book.

lol, my wife did the same thing… sorta… Except that, instead of buying them, she spent 3-4 consecutive days in Barnes and Noble and read through the series.

Lol Revalis, my wife would be impressed with that level of thriftiness. I tried again. Twilight is just not going to happen. I can’t get past the whining in the first chapter.

Oh well, I’ve been digging around for the original references of 80s cartoons. That all started when my son got the first 3 sets of Thundercats from the library. The second DVD set has a making of documentary including a good amount of Tobin Wolf’s original concept art which I really like. So I’m looking for book references if such a thing exists… not that I’m looking too hard.
