Cosman Rigging01 Foot Expression broken

Sorry, I don’t agree with that statement. Anything done well will not take 1 day to pull off. I know you mean well, but it’s the attitude of cracking open a program and expecting it to do everything for you that kind of gets me. The beauty of Messiah is it’s flexibility, and that leaves room for creativity. If rigs only work one way that limits the types of animations that can be produced.

True.
It would be nice to have both, though.

I’m thinking more of a way to attract new users. Animation artists in particular. It’s better for the succes of messiah that they experience satisfaction after the first experience. The idea is to present an easy but powerful base.
eg. a powerfull, versatile standard_biped_rig that kicks ass. Fueled on the tricks of the trade. The real power of messiah in the hands of a newbie. They will be encouraged, even more than us :D, to dig deeper into messiah.

If rigs only work one way that limits the types of animations that can be produced.

Such rig should take care of the ‘daily tasks of a rigger’ but also allow the user to determine the level of automation. Going from a raw skeleton(correctly oriented / zeroed out) to a fully automated IK/FK, twisting bones, motionclip(self created) driven loops parametricly altered with faders, walking, blending to running(loopspeed/stride driven), blendable ragdoll physics, avoiding, seeking, fleeing, parachute jumping, bread baking, love making, … :bounce:
Ok, ok, … one more thing. Export/importable.

In short, accessible for newbies and tweakable for pros. As useful as possible to any kind of user. By this enhancing the productivity, the userbase, the success of the app.

But again, you’re right.

I see what you’re saying and why you’re saying it. You, as well as everyone else that uses messiah wants it to succeed. Personally, I’d like to see a lot more of the work being done by individuals and studios in messiah showcased. I know there’s some awesome stuff we don’t get to see.
Here’s my approach to messiah and you can toss it if you don’t agree.
I work as a character animator and most studio situations I find myself in, I don’t have to rig, but I feel that since it directly affects my career I should know something about the tools of my trade. I’m able to rig enough in other programs to pull off what I need to, but messiah gave me the ability to do it faster and with nicer deformations without having to weight points, create weight maps…blah blah blah.
I’ve seen Joe Cosman’s CD and he does an excellent job of setting you up with a basic rig. He probably goes even deeper on the other ones. Once AUTORIG is fixed it may be the answer you’re looking for, but I don’t think you’ll need it once you learn ‘your’ rig.
Sheesh! I’m tired of hearing myself…
