i almost never have used motionbuilder , i have the mocap animation working fine in the normal human rig then i constraint the bones to my rig of a cartoon character so legs are shorter and all that … my rig constrained follow fine the mocap rig but with those shorter legs and things like that i get wrong movement for example if character make a roll on the floor because he rolls under the floor , so the question is about in motionbuilder theres something to readjust bones structure to be able to work with shorter legs longer arms or longer spine or whatever? or just can be fixed tweaking the mocap keys …
copy mocap from normal human structure to cartoonish structure
if you can characterize the cartoon skeleton, you can adjust most of those problems during the mapping from character to character… if its a skeleton that can’t be characterized to have a motionbuilder rig on it then its going to be more work for you to build a retarget system but with layers and animation of the constraints and scaleing parts of the chracter rig it is posible to do what you want.
thanks , i tried in maya move joints of the mocap skeleton to fit my character and then apply the clip of the mocap aninmation to it so the only problem was some offset with the root translation , tweaking those keys seems can almost fix the thing
