Convert your Wings3D file to RIB …

Use Manifold Lab to convert to RIB.

What is Manifold Lab?

Unfortunatley No one can be TOLD what the MLab is… you have to experience it for yourself.

I think I know what JDEX means …

It’s not a modeler … it’s not a renderer … it’s not an animation package … It might not really fit into any one of those categories for a while.

It is an open source application that loads Nendo and OBJ files. Exports Nendo and OBJ files. Converts Vertex colors to texture accurately. Can be used very effectively with AutoUV … you select your regions with Manifold Lab and them run AutoUV with Wings3D.

If you have renderdl (RIB renderer) in your path, it will render a white image as above. We are working on TIF export and UV export to RIB so you can get a full colored/texture RIB render right from MLAB. Wings3D had RIB as a plugin with Ribbit at one point … but some of the the Gamma values with Ribbit were a little wacky by default.

Is this a plugin for Wings? If so, what operating system is it for and where can I get it? It sounds very useful.

"It is an open source application "

It’s not a plugin for Wings3D. But it does read Wings3D exported Nendo files. Imports Nendo files back to Wings3D.

It’s written in Java. It has run on Win32, Linux, and OS X.

There are a few screen redraw issues on OS X right now … with known solutions (my bads). If someone expressed interest in Mac OS X … I’ll just retest it and develop it there for a few days and make a clean Mac OS X release. Much of it does work on OS X w/o problem.

The context Menus were implemented on Win32 recently and need to be fixed and tested for OS X . But the hot-keys and buttons all work fine on OS X.

Be advised this application is under heavy and rapid construction. It’s only two months old. I expect it to grow a lot in the next 6 months. But I don’t see that as a problem … more of a blessing. I need user feedback to make it stronger … else it just gets stong for my Win32 machine.

Cool! Where can I get it?

Put please consider participating in the feedback we need for proper design.

What platform will you be running on ?

If not Win32 … why don’t you give me a few days to make sure Linux and / Or OS X have been re-tested to make all nice nice. I need about 1 more month to get all the UV options into it that should make it really worth while. However … if you want to try vertex coloring … this is a great workflow for taking you from vertex color to texture and is ready for that kind of user.
