construction animation techniques ?

Hi there everybody,

I was wondering if there is a script out there that would help achieving animations of this sort:

Doesnt have to be the exact thing but I basically need to animate construction of some buildings.

Doing that piece by piece would probably be the wrong way. I can render elements and tweak timings in post but would like to hear about other techniques as well.
