Constraints

#1

I posted a message earlier, but it doesn’t seem to have shown up.

ANyway, I am trying to constrain two bones movement in a simple IK setup with only two points. I want the bones to only move in one plane (YZ) regardless of where the Goal is placed. I the goal moves on the X axis- I do not want the bones to follow.

What this means in essence, is that I want the heading a bank of the bones to be constrained to 0 (zero). When I select one of the bones and use the constraints in the IK block for heading and set the range from 0 to 0, nothing happens- the bones will change their heading to follow the goal. When I use an expression to set the heading channel for a bone to 0, I get the same result.

I think the problem is that the heading a pitch and bank are calculated for each bone relative to themselves, so that the heading is in fact be constrained, but not relative to world coordinates.

I am a beginner, and would appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks,
Owen

ps. I am using the simple IK setup provided in the tutorial list for IK in the Animate 5.0 Demo.
