Constrain rigid body to animated object

#1

Hi guys. I’m having a bit of trouble with rigid bodies in Maya.

I want to be able to push and pull 2 objects using 1 object (let’s say 2 spheres being moved by 1 cube) The problem I am having is that the cube has to be controlled by a rivet that is attached to a 4th geometry (let’s call this a cylinder) that’s already animated.

To understand the scene better, imagine 2 spheres with a cube in the middle. The two spheres are one object so when one moves forward the other one does as well. I want the cube to move forward to push the spheres then move backwards to pull the spheres back. That back and forth animation is already set up by the cylinder.

MY biggest problem is that I can’t seem to assign a rigid body to an object that has animation on it, nor can I assign the rigid body and then constrain it to another animated object.

Any suggestions out there?

I hope I have made that clear, thanks all.

Make the keyed object you constrain to a passive object.
