Compositing question

#1

Hi everyone,

I am a director, who has never worked with any special effects in the past and I am currently in need of advice regarding the effect of a short film I am going to direct.

The action is happening in a woman’s magazine, and includes a group of dancers supposed to be evolving within it.
Therefore I would like to use a different pastel color backgrounds for different scenes, the kind of one we see on every woman’s magazine front covers, but unfortunately we won’t be able to cover our studio with a different wall paper each time we switch from one scene to the next and some of the shots will be pretty wide!
What I was thinking was to shoot in a green screen studio and turn it into whatever color I decide in post. The thing is that I don’t want to keep a sense of space and don’t want to turn out having my dancers looking like paper cut outs on a 2D background. It seems that I am missing something.
I am a newbie at compositing. Could you help me find a good treatment?

Thank you
