Compositing a CG boat on a live action plate?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for asking this question, sorry in advance if it’s not.

What’s regarded as the best workflow for compositing a CG boat on a live action plate with water?

Should I be replacing all the water with CG or just bring the boat in or something else?

for wider shots, where the boat is not very close to camera you dont need cg water.

look at some videos on youtube and you will see, there is not so much interaction between the ship and the water.
you could try to cut/key out some of the waves hitting the boat or the ones in front and behind the ship and place that over your cg ship
