Commodore 64 Mini releases on October 9 with 64 built-in games

The Commodore 64 Mini is coming out on October 9. The plug-and-play version of the classic PC system is 50 percent smaller than the original. It comes with 64 built-in games (hooray for branding) and a joystick. The system has a built-in keyboard, similar to the original home computer from the 1980s. https://venturebeat.com/2018/07/23/commodore-64-mini-releases-on-october-9-with-64-built-in-games/

The C64 and Amiga software emulators by Cloanto are also very good. Your PC turns into a completely authentic feeling C64 or Amiga with a few mouseclicks.

However, the games included with these emulators are rather poor, to keep the price (about 20 bucks) down probably.

This C64 seems to come with some truly classic games like Summer Games and Uridium.

Lovely for showing your kids what gaming was like back in the 1980s.

Not a bad list of games, but there’s a bit too much filler, imo. There are a handful of true classics and hidden gems that seem to have been forgotten. Off the top of my head…

Zaxxon
Chimera
Ghostbusters
Aztec Challenge
Sammy Lightfoot
Archon
Pitfall
X-Men: Madness in Murderworld
Garry Kitchen’s Game Maker
Defender
Choplifter

I can certainly understand why a few of those might not make the cut, money and all. However, it’s almost criminal to miss the likes of Zaxxon. Chimera’s worth it for the title song alone.

(OT: If you love chip tunes then you owe it to yourself to check out the GameBoy Robocop theme. Not at all the one used in the movie, but so cool all on its own.)
