Comic Book Style Cover

#1

I’m new to digital painting but I’ve been drawing for years. I really wanted to try to bring in one of my drawings and paint over it in photoshop like I’ve seen so many others do. There are definately beginner errors but the technique is what I’m really trying to learn. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Its hard to see as its quite small try making it bigger so we can see the details.

From what i see you have either painted the ground really defined or used a photo and mixed it with a comic style.

The sun seems to be setting so i would think there wouldnt be many highlights on the front of the figures at all.

yeah i tried to upload the bigger file but it was bigger than the maximum file size accepted. So I had to link to a smaller image on my webserver. Sorry about that, but you are right, the ground is a mix of real photo of ground combined with my own drawing and photoshop painting. I’m trying to practice mixing real with cg to bring up the realism of the art. Good point about the lighting, I’ll have to work on that some more to give the characters more of a back-lit appearance. Thanks for the comments sypherr, I need them to get better.
