Coloring abstract waves by curvature/heigh/etc?


Hi, so I was workig on this and I wanted to colour it by curvature, height or wathever you can think of.
I also think it could be interesting painting a gradient from one sharp corner to the next one.
I did this in Blender/cycles but can use 3DS Max/Arnold (Which is what I actually use at uni).

Do you have any idea on how to do it? Also, can you think of any references of this kind of abstract look?
Something I can think about that I’ve recently seen is this, althought not wavy is very minimalistic and has lots of gradients.


Surely looks interesting, I would imagine that a lot of colorized movies used some
similar technique. But as far as I understand, a lot of manual labor
was still needed. There are some experimental neural net methods now
