Yep, welcome aboard. Remember, I know you’re still pretty new but we need excellence especially with the ship yard, it’s one of the biggest peices, and it’s got alot of stuff on it. That’s why I’m going to ask you to do a mid-distance version of it and not the full blown station with all the detail, okay?

Hey, can I see the concept art for that shipyard? Tell you the truth, I’ve been stirring one in my mind for a few days, thinking what a shipyard of that type would need, how to design it etc… I’d be interested to see what you’ve come up with, if that’s possible.

Justin just gave me a concept, so I’m gonna start modelin it ASAP. After school tomorrow. I’ll post up a quick concept model tomorrow and see what you think of it. Can’t wait to see some updates from you guys.
Ok here I’ve been workin on it for bout 1 and half hours. I have to go to work now. =( So I’ll work on it either tonight or tomorrow cause the computer I use right now is in my parents room.

Good to see a new team starting up in here…it’s been a long while.
just wanted to say i’ve got my nose to the grindstone to get an update posted soon. after a few false starts i’ve got my modeling groove on so it should be in the near future. i’m starting to realize why you don’t see too many of these around. 80% of it is one welded piece and no hard edges except the engines and guns. fun stuff.
Yep, both the mkVII and the mkII have a few nasty surprises in store for the unsuspecting modeller. The mkII’s wings look easy enough to do, right? Wrong! Must have rebuilt them a million time before getting them right… and the rest of the hull has some tricks of its own. I can imagine the mkVII can get tricky in similar ways…
OH! and nighttrain, I need to have you do another model when you’re done with your viper - or better yet now (cause it’s for the intro scene) I need a raptor cockpit. only the facing out the front view.
Hey guys, I added some details. Have to go to work now, but I’ll work on it when I get home. I have to refine the shape of of the front a bit too. I’ll prob quadruple the current poly count of this “arm” of the shipyard before going on to the second arm.

Hey, what about characters? I’ve been thinking about this, since my viper has a see-through canopy and a cockpit, we’ll probably need to see someone flying it, right? I’ve been looking at the colonials helmet design, it doesn’t seem too tough to do. I figure the rest of the body shouldn’t present much of a problem, and the face can be low detail - it’s not all that visible in the helmet. Or, do we have that covered?
if you’d like to tackle it, by all means do-so. We need that viper as soon as we can though
Also if it would be possible, you think you could retrofit one with a short range FTL?
Well, the viper’s landing gear should be done by tomorrow, at which time I’ll probably declare the mesh as finished and start to unwrap it.
Not sure what you mean - is that a joke? Or do you want me to make some modifications to the viper, so it looks like it has some hardware added on the hull - something that would look like a welded on FTL?
Michael, those renders are amazing, and the modeling is amazing as well. What settings for your renders? Damn, you’ve definetly set some standards in terms of high polygon hard surface modeling. Small update too.
