Clothing

#1

Hi,

Haven’t been using wings that long and don’t know other programmes so this may be a dumb question. Does it make sense for me to be trying to do loose clothing like a dress or even a cape in wings? I’m thinking of then taking it to MotionBuilder and trying to animate the dress to flow as the woman walks. If it makes sense to be trying this in wings are there any recommended starting points/approaches.

Thanks in advance

i am new to making clothing and i do not know yet if you can animate it but…i simply extract(not extrude) the area on my model where the clothing will be. then i extrude ever so slightly to give 3rd dimension or depth. works great for form fit clothing.

Try modeling the volume of the clothing around the character (lock the character object so you don’t move its polygons by mistake), then select the faces where you want to have openings for the neck, legs and arm holes, and then do an Intrude. That will give you the cloth thickness and cut out the appropriate holes.
