Choosing GPUs: ATI vs. Quadro for EIAS (and, say, Maya or Modo)

#1

Thinking about upgrading from my oldie Dualie G4 1 GHz. to a brand new scary Rev.A Mac Pro, I’d like to hear some opinions about the high end 3D cards available: the ATI X1900 XT vs. the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500.

Does (or will) EIAS specially benefit from having a Quadro-class card onboard? Do so other 3D apps available on Mac (or on a Mac Pro running Windows)? If so, is it that significant?

While I don’t have either card, I can tell you that the ATI card will allow you to have anti-aliased windows while working in EI…I’ve got the stock Nvidia card in my quad and I cannot do that. It doesn’t really matter, I guess, but I’ve got it working on my laptop and it’s nice to have smooth anti-aliased windows while working
