I started the massing model. It is based on the mythical TR-3B UFO reconstruction vehicle. My people are human descendants of a mining colony that was off world when there home planet was destroyed. They gathered raw materials from surrounding space rocks and constructed a mother ship. This “fighter” is actually a modified landing vehicle. The ballistic armaments were originally developed as an active defense against debris. The anti gravity components keep it airborne, while the thrusters provide movement. The shape is somewhat dynamic to allow for quick movement on worlds with atmosphere. The modular thrusters used here are part of the motherships active defense systems. They are produced to be used as bombs, probes, and drones. This ship is really just one configuration of a number of commonly used parts. I wanted to keep the sillouette simple and have spots of detail for the eye to move around. This first model is just a mock up with really bad geometry for the sake of time. I am trying to avoid making design choices during the final modelling process. I always end up wasting allot of time when I just jump in with sub-d.

Very belivable design! The Ship operative functions you explainded for you project are very clear and cool! I’ll come back for more!

the monolithic geometric shape is very appealing. When you get to the final modeling I think the challenge is in adding subtle enough detail so you don’t lose the beauty of its simplicity.

good looking design and the architectural shape language is fresh over the more typical space fighters.
