Some very nice stuff you got on there… I’m very interested in some .fla files

Oh my gosh ! ! ! :scream: That tees one blew my mind! That was absolutely amazing. I’d be interested in seeing how you did this as well. Great job.

Ok I have seen the page flipper used on a Hewlett Packard site but no were else. Can you point me to a tutorial on that or tell me how you went about that? Or any advice or fla files would be great.

YESYES!!!

Where do you find the code .flas for tht.
Ive got a project right now I could use that on…plez, plez!

Please share the knowledge…

you will need to animate a mask either using actionscript or in a movie that you will then control the playhead for by the position of the “handle”

then you rotate the “page” out of the mask area, and have an internal mask for the page movie with the gradient moving backwards and rotating in the opposite direction so that effectively you’re making the page slide out from teh edge of the mask where the gradient also sits that’s masked out by a mask the same shape as the page. then just dynamically load up the images into teh page and you’re away.

Guys I’ve just added the FLA for download…

Thank you,thank you…

Checking it out right now.

Very nice of you, thanks a lot!

I can not say thank you enough. I have a few little questions. On the t shirts they have to be vector art correct? I work for a company that sells software to students and schools and would like to create something like this but have box shots of products on the pages. And if necessary I could re-create the boxes in Illustrator and bring them as vector art into flash. Am I on the right track? Have you worked on making the images in the book dynamic or pull from a text file?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!

#12

No, the images aren’t vector.
They’re imported GIF’s.

With a bot of coding you could easily transform this into a multipage booklet set up using external variables and improted images.

Kappa

Kappa, would you be intersted in helping my company I work for make this into a dymanic book. Basically via key word driven from the database I want it to display the products and info and such into each page of the book. I have been working on this in XML and PHP with no luck yet.

#14

erm, tell me if im wrong, but are you sure you made all that by yourself? I know a component for that car and I’ve already seen that book effect as a “free for download” file.

Sorry, if im wrong

#15

ellion,
I’ve coded and re-coded depending on the files.
The book was an existing model that I found had flaws and fixed.
The car engine - From scratch.

There are hundreds of ways to code these things, and most things out there have been done and re-done, I haven’t re-invented the wheel, just had some fun with flash.

Web Guy
I’m flat out with my full time job, to fit any more work in. If theres a question you need me to answer fire it through but as far as taking more work on, i’ll have to decline.

cheers,

Kappa

sry, no critic, just wanted to know

Hi guys, you have inspired me to write my first post

The page turn effect can be done two ways or a mixture of both (I haven’t looked at which way Kappa is doing this, at fist glance it looks like a cross between the two, nice site by the way):

  1. The total fudge

  2. The HP way

A quick explaination of both as I’m killing time:

  1. The simplest way (but most laborious) is to create a pre-rendered page turning in MAX with the content applyed as a texture and play back the frames in relation to the mouse’s X coordinate i.e. if the mouse is > than 10 && < 20 you should be on frame 3 etc.

  2. The interesting thing about this one is that (and you can’t do this on kappa’s version which is why i suspect the crossover) you can actually drag the corner anywhere you like, it doesn’t have a pre-defined(as in the previous method) or overly constrained path. This method is very buggy because you are using alot of trig functions and if you don’t get it right the thing tends to fly apart (I know I’ve built one of these before). It’s difficult to explain, but basically your turning page is just a square (or what ever shape your page is), look at the hp version carefully, ignore the clever shading tricks, and notice that the page while hidden in places, never actually deforms, it doesn’t bend. So then you have two points, one on the baseline and the other is where the corner of page will be, the page is attached to the latter point and its angle calculated from the right angle triangle created between the points and the baseline. The mask works on the same princple but a number of steps behind the page. Then all you have to do is constrain the page corner so that it will not move out of an area equal to the radius of the lenght of a page taken from the center of the baseline. I’ll stop now as I’ve probably lost you, and I have to go.

I’ll try to up load a version to my site sometime in the near future.

Dave

Why don’t you post a version of yours here in a fla format please. I would like to go thru and see how you went about it the other way.

Thanks,
