Character rig screwing up

#1

I’ve attached a character that I’m working on. I haven’t rigged any characters in Lightwave since 6.5, I’m a bit rusty so I hoped that someone could help me out.

The bones in the arms have gone a bit weird & pinged out of the socket at the elbow. I can move them back into position but then the mesh is out of wack or move them so that the mesh is correct but the joint is in the wrong place.

Any other pointers would also be welcome. I haven’t even attempted IK yet, just getting some weighting done for the joints.

Without looking at your zip, I would first suggest you go to frame 0 (or whatever frame is your rigging pose), select all bones then tap the ‘r’ key to reset all the bone rests. It is easiest to select all bones from the classic scene editor.

That will fix your geometry from going wrong.

thanks, I was looking for “rest” on the interface but couldn’t find it.

It looks like the skelegons were actually in the wrong place but I must have missed it when I first converted them. I hate rigging!
