Mare meva!!! Amacing work dude!!
What a complet rigs, great control over the pose and fantastic face acting!
Congratulations tiu :applause:

#222

Very impressive work, this rig is an animators dream. Have you written any rigging tutorials?

A well deserved front page!

#223

ERROR READING FILE … Tried it with maya 7 and maya 8.5 …

All that space switching, is it keyable/blendable?

I have been unable to make space switching (in multiple forms) since i started Maya. When blending from one constraint to another, the constrainted object actually moves from default position to default position (default of the constraints that is). What you end up with is when blending between space/head/body/etc pins, your IKHand is actually moving through arbitrary points in space which is annoying to animate with.

#225

i bet this space switching is driven by scripts scriptjob and all, right?
with this kind of tools, you can blend any space switching you like. it’s just like snapping controlers to the good place in animation

#226

Yea but its it blend-able? I thought about using scripts to do that, and infact i am in a sense, but its not as seemless as dragging up a “pinToHead” value, and draging down a “pinToBody” value.

Anyway, i’m very curious as to how its done. I’ve got one working in the short term, and its rather flexible, but its a two step process, you have to snap the desired Constraints to the hand, before you blend the hand to them, that way the hand never moves. Its this snapping process that i don’t know how to automate while making it blend and animate.

Great work awesome rig great character animation, it shows in a cool, cool way the spanish style!

It has been a while since the last 5 stars thread congratulations!!

‘wenisimo’ el rig! deberias agarrar y pensar en un dvd doble para tu corto (uno con el corto y el otro con un “making of” tipo lo de king kong :P…) te cuadras con la gente de la cgstore y te aseguro que va a ser (como dicen por aqui en mi tierra) un palo! *

*para traduccion preguntale a uno de los venezolanos que andan por alla en la colonia mas grande de venezolanos en europa (bacelona)

Hi Victor,

Your rig is great and I love the facial setup!! Care to elaborate on the rivet script you mentioned?? Cant really figure out how you can animate(bendshapes) and sculpt it with secondary controls at the same time… Cheers

#229

Zeusbwr, like you and Yznah said, the space switching is done using a melscript wich snaps the animation controls to the right position just before constraint blend switching. As you say, this only represents the “manipulation” part of the process. Then we have to deal with how to “key” this. And definitely this switches are blendable, keyable and editable in a normal way using the channel box or the curve editor or whatever.
The way it works is simple: every limb has an extra control with all its extra attributes for space and IK switching, and the snapping script just key them. Then you can keep working with this controls “manually”, blending and animating it the way you like. The RMB script just does the snapping process.

thanks a lot!

#231

Would you like to send the scene with the non-roll arm here?I don’t know why you removed it from the other thread :frowning:

#232

Yep. I’m in the exact same boat. And then using the RMB to envoke the switching process. I understand the process I guess I just need to see it done.

#233

Ah ok ty very much for filling me in

I guess i use the same method then, your method just looked smoother (even though its the same thing).

#234

Amazing and inspirational work! Thanks for sharing it as well as your detailed responses to people’s questions. Talented and generous – a very nice combination!

#235

hi! AWESOME rig!!

Really Great work!!

#236

man that’s the best rigging demo reel I’ve never seen … big big respect !

#237

Hope he will be generous enough to give full explanations not half answers and make some videos too.

#238

Question: This will sound stupid, but that shoulder setup of yours, did you somehow avoid Gimble Lock? You mentioned it was to make it so there was no weird flipping whatnot, but does that setup actually kill gimble lock somehow?

#239

hey yangchen60! stop asking stupid questions! and making ridiculous demands!

haha, just trying to help

#240

Maaaan i just so badly wana know how to make the ik/fk switch and the non-roll arm :bounce:
