Character : Princess Fiona

Princess Fiona

This painting was inspired by the beautiful Young Princess of Antropus created earlier this year… I wanted to utilise his
method in a piece of my own, and this is the result. The process starts with the modelling of a head, in this case using ZBrush Ver.
1.55b, placing the head and lighting it, followed by exporting the render for overpainting…
Princess Fiona was a collaborative effort between Michael Lapierre and I, beginning with my modelling of the original head, as well as
a model of the basic shape of her hair. Michael designed and modelled the jewellery she wears, also in ZBrush 1.55b. I did the main
overpainting, with additional glazing done by Michael, as we exchanged versions of the image electronically.
Since the main procedure was a painting one, I post Princess Fiona here in the 2D section, rather than the 3D section.

A detailed step-by-step tutorial can be found on my website

I hope you enjoy the end result of a creation we both enjoyed.

Since you posted this in the Finished Work Forum, I don’t suppose you’re looking for critiques, but I just wanted to mention two items:

Her eyes have too much shine as though they are made of glass, and they lack roundness.
Her ear has a seam which leads me to believe that it was done separately, then cut and pasted on. It needs a bit more attention to smooth it out.

Nice colors!

yes, i posted here, since we consider finished and will not make any changes on fiona. as i just started painting last september, i love obtaining constructive critique, as it helps in my next projects to watch out for these things. thank you to both of you.

as to the ears i not see which seam you mean, the head and ears is modeled in one piece. the only thing i can imagine you mean is that the shadow is too hard there ?
