very nice, very tattooine.

The model, the texturing, the sky, the idea!!! WOW! The moons are perfect, the sky is perfect. The image is perfect. What else can I say?
wow this is really sweet i like the lonely feeling of it but he looks like he wants to get down to beating somthing with that pipe :applause:
if there was a way for you to up the detail and make it crisper looking, this would look like a scene from a game…
other than the above, everything is nice and fine
Awesome render tentacle…textures are looking right on and the backgrd is simple yet gives a nice overal feeling. Great job…
here is a close up of the head as requested
the grain of the image is intended, but i grant you that i may have gone over the top with the post production
pre post production versions of the image are availble if you want to see them

Interesting design. I looks like he came form the Fallout games. I love the total post apocaliptic feel of the scene. ![]()
thanks for all the positive responses
yes i am planning on animating him, but i have to get around to modifying my rig first which is going to be interesting and possibly slightly painful.
Cool. You’ve done an excellent job on the weathered paint surfaces. I aggree with the previous comment about the hips though, they look too flimsy compaired to the rest of the robot. Also he could do with a little more head room in the render. Good luck with the animation. ![]()
nice texturing. but one great point of criticism. please add details in the belly area. there are only two dampers. that´s quite less. how should it work?
keep on working man ![]()
Excellent work. The texturing is very nice, and overall it’s a very well put together image. I would encourage you to think some about what this robot is doing, and why he is where he is. Right now it’s basically just a robot standing in a desert, I don’t feel you really get a strong sense of why. He seems to have a very strong and centered pose, whereas I believe your intention for this character is to create a world-weary nomadic appearance, perhaps the pose could be changed to suggest this, right now I think it is too symmetrical. Also, the staff does not seem convincingly held by the robot, and I am also questioning what purpose the staff has. Perhaps the staff could be a walking stick, and the robot could be leaning with it as he trudges wearily across the desert. Again, thinking about why the robot is there in the desert and what he is wandering to/from/looking for might give you some further inspiration to improve the image.
I like the planets in the sky, however I’m not certain about the lighting of the planets. The lighting in the scene appears to come from behind and to the left of camera, whereas the light on the planets appears to be above and to the right of the camera. I would think that given the angle of the sun in the desert scene, the planets should be lit more from the front, and that we should see more of the lower portion of the planet lit. It might be good to do some research on moon phases, and study how the moon appears depending on its relative position to the sun and Earth.
I like the way the wind is flowing over the cloth pieces on the robots head, but I am also curious as to their function for the robot…do they serve any purpose other than decoration and to show wind flow.
IMO, the lighting on some of the shaded areas of the robot is a little too dark, such as under the shoulderpads and between the main two pistons in the robot’s abdomen.
Lastly, I love the used feeling of the texturing, I’d like to see maybe a little more dust and dirt on the robot, maybe on the lower parts of the legs.
Overall you have done some very nice work, and I think a more dynamic pose for the main character would be the key to bringing this image to a level of excellence from both a technical and artistic standpoint. Thanks for posting it!
