character: Lionman

#1

I don’t usually have chance to draw monsters, especially the furry type.
So I decided to make up some character for practice,
to see how do I make it look convincingly furry.
Also I tried to improve my colour sense so I used some “cheerful” colours
instead of the dark, bloody and muddy type of feel.

Here’s the result:

Any C&C is welcome

Love the feet, the mane and the background. His right thigh looks like you merged two perspectives and it’s two thick as a result. Handle of his battle axe seems to melt into the background. Could use a heavier outline. Lastly, his head looks too small for the body – I’d recommend making it dispropotionately LARGER to match real lion head. Also the yellow of his head is duller than that of his body.

Nice work, though.

not bad, in fect i think it a pretty cool idea, you should have payed more attention to how a lion looks though, his mane isn’t supposed to be just more hair on top of his head, he should probably bend a little over, his fangs/claws should be visible, his eyes should look like those of a lion, his nose can still be a bit wider. Also i wouldn’t hide hios tail that much, gave him a less “modern” axe, i suppose a very comprehensive, but primitive african axe would do better. Last but not least, the armor looks weird, probably to heavy, and not very lion-like.

It needs work, so i suppose you should work a little more on them, and cause you wanted really warm colors, i think much more red and yellow would give it a savanne like feel.

his face looks like that of a werewolf
his hands are to human( maybe you aimed for that? )
the armor around his groin doesn’t look like it fits…it looks like a steel diaper

i think you better make one small piece and over that a loincloth

his hair fades into the background to much as well as his hand and the axe handle

i like the axe itself

the tail…it is covered in armor right?

i don’t think a tail could hold so much weight

maybe only cover the base of the tail with armor
and for the rest of the tail…make it look like a cared-after tail and don’t make it fade into the background so much

if this pic is what you aimed for ignore what i said:P
